If you are looking for an eReader / eBook app for Android, look no further than Aldiko Book Reader.
It has a very pleasing interface, and intuitive controls. Load up the app first time, and you re presented with a bookshelf showing a few links. The page is divided into 3 sections. Recently opened books, a bookshelf with all the books you have, and then a link to the library where you can download more books. Aldiko has many free book as well as books you can purchase. Its quite easy to find a book you are looking for, and if you are like me and never really read some of the classics then this is a good place to start.
When you have a book open, you just need to tap the right side of the screen for the next page, and the left side for previous. And if you slide your finger up or down the left edge, you control the screen brightness. Hitting the android menu button allows access to more options. You can activate “Night mode” which switches the text to white and the background to black. The nice thing is that the two colour profiles (Night and Day) can be configured to your liking. If you want yellow writing on a green background you can…. if you REALLY want to.
Aldiko remembers exactly where you are in each book, and you can also set bookmarks if there is something you want to come back to. The app also has a tips and hints window that pops up when you load it, but you can deactivate this if you want. Shortcuts on your homescreen can be made directly to any book you have in your bookshelf.
Aldiko is the most downloaded eReader application on the Android Market and I highly recommend it.
