There could be various reasons for something like this happening.
A common reason is that the GPS is not enabled. Go to Settings -> Location & Make sure “Wireless Networks” and “GPS Satellites” are ticked. If you have the option, also make sure “Assisted GPS” is ticked.

- Switch off your phone (Hold the Power Buttonand select 'Power Off' on the menu.)
- Now hold down the Back button and press the Powerl button to switch on your phone.
