Samsung Galaxy S2 or wait for Galaxy Nexus?

Hi All,

I've got the X10 Mini at the moment but it is giving me issues with the Wifi (mentioned in the Sony Ericsson section).
So I am considering upgrading my phone to the S2, or should I rather wait for the Nexus to come out in February?
Will the S2 be upgraded to ICS at some point?
Is it worth waiting for the Nexus for ICS?

Also, where is a good place to purchase a smartphone from? Online vs shop? Which is better and where would I get the best price?

A lot of questions I know!

Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe the S2 will be upgraded to ICS, although that might only be 6 months from now. My personal opinion is this:
- If you need a microSD slot (for example I keep all my music on a 32Gb card), then get the S2
- Otherwise, it is worth waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. It will always get the latest Android OS first and should be supported for at least 18 months, according to Google's new policy

I agree with TobyK... I can easily wait for the Nexus! It's a seriously awesome mobile... The SII will get ICS but when? Who knows... There are some Alpha Roms out there but hardly anything is working on them. So yea, I would wait!

If you buy online, check their customer service quality first. expansys.co.za replaced my Desire that had died again, after they had sent it for repair. That would have been very difficult to arrange if I'd imported via eBay or similar.

Hi Vector,

I put my name down at Vodacom last week and got it on Sunday.
Very happy with it. Especially after coming from a Sony Erricson Xperia X10 Mini - tiny compared to the Nexus!
Only had it less than a week, but so far I have to say I am loving it.
The battery is lasting about 2 days if I don't play with the phone all the time - quite tricky not to at the moment!

ICS is also very smooth. Quite a few new shortcuts I'm learning.

Overall - a very good phone I think.

Thanks for the quick review. I am due for an upgrade later this month and I am seriously thinking of getting the Nexus. I am not going to have the patience to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3......
