See that link for a nice review already on XDA.

I personally am loving it. the interfaces looks wonderful. its not lagging at all. Haven't completely tried everything as i am at work but first impressions are very very favorable.

@qbzee007 Did you get the download (Generic Swiss ICS Xperia S firmware) and follow instructions on the Xperia Blog?

    http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/06/21...now-available/
    http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/04/15...ria-arc-guide/

Was your phone rooted? Mine is stock from Vodacom......

The Generic Swiss firmware isn't German only, right?

I assume my phone will be wiped in the process; how did you backup and restore your messages, system settings and app settings and data? PC Companion or 3rd party apps? Did everything restore successfully? Any changes to your internal storage (photos, music, videos, etc)?

So I've also managed to successfully upgrade to ICS. For anyone interested in doing the same, I followed the instructions here:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1725078

    It's a pretty painless experience.

My phone was non-rooted, from Vodacom. This doesn't root your phone so "shouldn't" affect your warranty, but I'm no expert so it's at your own risk. Just in case I ever have to go back, I made a backup of the original firmware, by following the instructions here:

    http://mytechencounters.wordpress.co...-ics-firmware/

The instructions says to use either PC Companion or Sony Update Service to do the repair. PC Companion didn't work for me, so I downloaded Sony Update Service.

Somehow following these instructions I must have done something wrong, and my phone appeared to be completely dead ... not switching on, no LED when plugged in, nothing. If this happens, do the following: hold all the phone's buttons, volume up AND down, camera button and power, at the same time for 10 or 20 seconds. Eventually my phone vibrated and was revived. I was able to do the backup and update the phone.

Hi there guys sorry for the late reply.

I did indeed download the Generic Swiss. I followed all those instructions from Xperiablog.net.
Most things seem to be working perfectly, since i had to test it over the weekend.

The only thing which isnt working is the radio. I loads and runs but the sound is very off.. very low.. i think the radio 'software' isnt designed for the frequencies which we use in SA.

The phone is wiped completely during the process. So make a backup of ur apps and sms's and so forth. It doesnt need to be rooted or anything. just download the firmware and flashtool and follow the instructions.

pretty cool features. that lock screen work wonderfully. walkman and album apps are a wonderful change.

am i the only one who has bought this phone.
That would suck because its such a good phone plus i have quite a bit to share such as below.

Remember how some ppl have said that the illumination bar was useless. well some smart guy has come up with an app which show sms and missed call notifications on the bar.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...25jb250cm9sIl0.

    its pretty nifty.
