Developer needed for Android Application

I'm building a machine that dispenses liquid.

I came across the Eken M001 tablet (running on android) and think it would be the perfect interface (and cheap!)

Basic needs :
1. Able to select which fluid, and what quantties to dispense
2. Keep count of units/volumes dispensed
3. Write data to excell-like sheets
4. Able to control external components (or send signals out) ( The eken has 30pin usb, wifi and bluetooth)
5. Able to backup data to sd card.
6. Nice, customiseable touch screen GUI


That's basically it for now.

Would like wifi access at a later stage.

any developer is going to charge you about R300 per hour or more. Probably 10 days ....

Would the same apply to windows ce developing?

Yea sounds about right. Go with a development company and you will pay even more (designer, project manager, etc.)

Android dev is easier than Windows CE, so I can't imagine it would be any cheaper.

It's amazing that you'd think with the amount of apps out there that apps are easy to create and hence should be cheap. Not so. As a developer I am constantly amazed at the amount and quality of apps out there.

Only way to get apps done cheaply is to build them yourself or go for some sort of profit share with a freelance developer. Or try to find a talented student

I totally understand what you say...

Just didn't think it would be so much!!

Problem is, VB isn't very easy to catch onto unless you go for propper courses. And I'm only going to use it once, maybe twice.

It would be great to write the program myself, cause i'm one of those fussy perfectionists

The thing is that the machine I want to build, needs to be built before i can sell the idea. I would like to minimise initial costs, to get a working model going, and then later on develop the perfect app for the unit.

If someone is willing to write me a VERY basic interface at a VERY basic price, we can talk. Otherwise i'd have to find another way. The hardware in itself will cost a lot of money as well.

Maybe this development day is the perfect place to look for someone? I'm sure you can grab a student for minimal pay and at least he / she will have something to they're name if they get it right! Win win for both parties
