Welcome! I don't know the answer to your question, but if you need any other help, just shout![]()
Do you guys know of any other cheap android phones? Even 2nd hand....
You can look on Gumtree for good secondhand android phones. What's your budget? The VF 845 (I think that's the model) is available in SA and very cheap. You can get them for under R2000. Not bad at all!

Yeah ... Vodacom does the VF845 ... I think at R1500. Otherwise if you want a contract ... the Red Bull Mobile 100 is at a good price with the RBM Android phone.
Otherwise, some good deals on Bid or Buy on the Wednesday crazy sale.
Come get some
Im scared of 2nd hand stuff... My budget has now increased to R2500, im still keeping this phone in mind, but im also considering the HTC wildfire... But people have been telling me to stay away form HTC (Crashes, no signal, battery)... What do you guys say?
Thats absolute nonsense! HTC makes some of the best handsets ever seen. Just keep in mind that it's the OS that crashes, not HTC. Look at Winmo 6.#... When it came out, it was the bee's knee's! People could handle the crashes and lags as the other OS's could not keep up (sambian). If you look at HTC today, look at the Hero, Legend, Wildfire, Desire, Desire HD, Desire Z, Tattoo... All from HTC and all brilliant handhelds.
If you get HTC, make sure it's Android!
Signal is to do with a couple of things. First the networks. Regardless of what mobile you got, if the SP does not have signal, you don't have signal. Another thing that affects signal is the Radio installed on the device. Always make sure you have the latest installed!
Battery on any smart phone does NOT LAST!!! You can make it last for 3 days by switching off your data, GPS, sync, etc. Don't make calls and please do not play a game! lol... If I put in an intense gaming session, my battery maybe lasts for 3 hours! Now today, when I woke up, my battery was @ 95%. Made some calls, data constant on and sync plus a bit of FB and emails here and there, my battery was @ 49% when I got home @ 5:30pm... Not bad. Got the same on my Hero...
IMO, go for the Wildfire. Not a bad device for entry level Android or even the Vodafone... Big ups to Vodafone for that price!!! So now you have my 5c of ranting... You make the choice![]()

Thanks dude, how do i see if my radio (Whats that?) is the latest version?
Press menu, then scroll to the bottom and select about phone. Now depending if you have sense, look under software info. There you will find something called "base band version". The last 4 digits is the important part. That tells you when that radio was released. You can search xda's forum to see what the latest radio is.
Just shout if you need any assistance

Hello Gee! Prawny here from PS3ZA as well.
Did you end up getting the Wildfire? If so, does it come with Android 2.2?
