    Questions for the FAQ

    Hi Guys.

If you think a particular question should be added to the FAQ, please add it here and I will look at it.
If I believe everybody can benefit from the question, I will create an answer and post it on the FAQ on the main page.

Questions should not be too long.

    Regards

    Itai

    Re: Questions for the FAQ

    Hi Itai,
Much like most of the other members on this site, I have been wanting to update my HTC Hero to Android 2.1.
It would seem that none of the new Roms are without bugs though and in order to avoid bricking my phone, I have tried to be patient, until members who know what they are doing, could use and test a good working Rom, before taking the chance.
What I would like to see (and not from a link on XDA Developers web site, which I find very confusing) is a step by step guide enabling (" Android Dummies") like myself,
to root our stock HTC Hero phones (Mine is a Vodacom unit) and doing all the necessary (including being able to return the phone to stock (original 1.5 Cupcake)so that Warantee issues are avoided.
I found a link today which I sent to RaZeal. It discusses a program called Rom Manager, which you can download from the Market.
Apparently, it makes things a lot easier when it comes to rooting your phone in preparation for a new Rom, with backup facilities etc.
I downloaded this onto my phone but the program calls for rooting. Now this is the first step that I believe needs to be performed and I am not clear as to how to do this.
Obviously, after all the preliminary steps have been taken, the chosen Rom can then be loaded onto the SD card and installed.
Here's hoping that someone out there who has tried and tested this, can help.

    Hi.

Well I have asked Razeal to let me know what steps need chaning for a Hero tutorial, once he lets me know, I can upload it.
Unfortunately I don't have my own Hero, so couldn't tell you myself.

    Regards

    Itai
