What I would like to see (and not from a link on XDA Developers web site, which I find very confusing) is a step by step guide enabling (" Android Dummies") like myself,
to root our stock HTC Hero phones (Mine is a Vodacom unit) and doing all the necessary (including being able to return the phone to stock (original 1.5 Cupcake)so that Warantee issues are avoided.
I found a link today which I sent to RaZeal. It discusses a program called Rom Manager, which you can download from the Market.
Apparently, it makes things a lot easier when it comes to rooting your phone in preparation for a new Rom, with backup facilities etc.
I downloaded this onto my phone but the program calls for rooting. Now this is the first step that I believe needs to be performed and I am not clear as to how to do this.
Obviously, after all the preliminary steps have been taken, the chosen Rom can then be loaded onto the SD card and installed.
Here's hoping that someone out there who has tried and tested this, can help.
