“The age of the intellectual mobile phone is here. With the introduction of our full 3D graphics on the new LG Optimus 3D everyone and anyone will have a chance to enjoy a true, out of this world, 3D experience without hassle,’’ says Jackie van Wyk, Mobile Brand Manager of LG Electronics South Africa.

Yes, it has finally happened, 3D has filtered down to the world of Smartphones … For better or worse.

LG will be unveiling their new LG Optimus 3D smartphone overseas at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from the 14th to 17th February 2011.

The new LG Optimus 3D will feature a 3D Screen Technology which does NOT require the use of 3D Glasses to view the 3D content, meaning 3D will now be more accessible and become a glasses-free viewing experience.

The 3D screen will be most likely be incorporated into certain games, as well as 3D movies and photos.

Touching on the multimedia use, it is also interesting to note that the LG Optimus 3D features a Dual camera system, allowing you to capture your own 3D video and image content, making it the world’s first smartphone with both a 3D LCD Screen and Dual side-by-side cameras for capturing 3D content. Additionally, it is rumored that the LG Optimus 3D will feature 1080p Video Recording.

LG South Africa has estimated that the LG Optimus 3D will be available locally around June 2011, so that is definitely something to look forward to.
