The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro are two phones taking Smartphones to a new level with their Tiny size.
Smartphones are notoriously associated with the reputation of being large and bulky. Sony Ericsson are out to change this outlook with the introduction of their Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro.
Both phones are tiny in comparison to your average Smart Phone, even in comparison to your average candybar phone being just 83mm(L) x 50mm(B).
The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro is virtually identical to the X10 Mini, but with the exception of a physical slide-out Qwerty keyboard … which is surprisingly comfortable to use on such a small device. I honestly preferred using the Qwerty Keyboard on the X10 Mini Pro than my old HTC Tytn II. The design of the X10 Mini Pro’s keyboard was created with larger phones in mind and better tactile feedback.
The X10 Mini Series are based on the “Human Curviture” design and are made to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. The plastic back on the phone is similar to that of the Sony Ericsson X10 and feels comfortable with a rubbery texture.
The X10 Mini Series isn’t as feature rich as the X10, mainly due to the smaller screen size and lesser CPU, thereby meaning less multimedia features could be included in order to allow the phone to operate efficiently.
The screen of the X10 Mini series was designed with One-Handed use in mind, and as such a new shortcut button system has been introduced being the “Four Corner Buttons” system. What this does is places a button in each of the four corners a opposed to at the bottom. These buttons change with the various applications in use. This allows for screen space to be used more efficiently by the apps, as well as preventing accidental pressing of the wrong button.
The X10 Mini series also comes included with the Sony Ericsson Timescape software, and the “Infinite” button which is used to aggregate all communication with any particular contact in order to make messaging and communication easier.
The X10 Mini series will most likely be launched in 2 colours in South Africa, being Black and Red.
