So this is officially my first article on Android ZA and what better way to start then by listing probably two of the most important downloads for your Android Phone.
Why the team at Google did not build this functionality as a core function in Android is beyond me, but these Apps are a definite must have for all Android users (Although I must comment that I haven’t used version 2 or above, so perhaps they are in there already).
You can find these applications by simply searching their name in the Android Market.
- Advanced Task Killer Free – Ever notice how after a while your phone may start to feel sluggish? This is probably because all the applications you recently opened are running in the background, and with no obvious way (that I could find) to close them properly, they begin to clutter up your phone’s memory. In comes Advanced Task Killer, just open it up, select the applications you do or don’t want to close and press “Kill Selected Apps”. Your phone’s response time should now be just as fresh as when you took it out the box.
- Astro File Manager – When I initially got my Android based phone, I looked around for some sort of method to browse my files. I realised there was no proper method and it was limited to browsing photo’s through the Gallery App and music through the Music App. This was an issue, how was I to find the files I saved to my SD Card such as documents, or new applications? I searched the Android market and discovered Astro File Manager. After installing it, I was able to browse any folder on the phone or SD Card with ease and open up any file type the phone supports, including application files which Astro File Manager would happily install for me, what a pleasure.
So there you have it, the two applications I believe that no Android user should be without, whether you are a simple “A phone is a phone” user or one of those Uber users whose phone is their way of life.
